The past few weeks the students in Mr. Provenzano’s class and the kids from Vanmeter have been working on making their own version of Romeo and Juliet. Some people think that this project is a waste of time and that the students should be reading the story and taking test. During the project surprisingly they do a lot of that but in different way. The kids all had to work together to put the production on and work very hard with the other school which was very difficult to do.
The project kept everyone more involved in the play and what was happening. If you weren’t paying attention to the play you wouldn't have done your job right. Most of the jobs kept you very involved in the production. If you weren’t doing what you were supposed to do then everything else would be affected. It kept everyone very involved because everyone had to do something. All the students most likely learned more doing this because it was more hands on then if you’re just reading it out of a book. It requires them to look into the story more to figure out what they need to be doing with their part. Each week the students had to do discussion questions so that they were paying attention and doing their job correct.
During the project all of the students could collaborate. They could all exchange and share ideas with each other. When they did that is made them understand others and how they were all planning to put this production on. It really made all the students work together and do a lot of group work witch made them understand it more. When doing all of this is prepares them for future experiences. When working with your group for your job, if you didn't communicate then everything would go wrong. It could even go wrong in Vanmeter because it all has to look the same.
The project will make a lot more memories. If the students were just doing this project in class then they would not really remember it and think it was boring. They will most likely remember it for a long time because they probably won’t do anything like this again. It is something they will all think about when they think about their freshman year. This project is something no one has ever done before so it makes the kids feel like they did something really important. It was something fun to do with all their friends
Over all this is a project that will benefit the students in the future. It shows them how to meet new people and how to communicate with people they do not know very well. The project showed the students how you had to work without being told what to do by a teacher. It’s something they will never forget.
